WordStar Word Processing Version 2.26 (1981) (MicroPro) (Osborne 1)

This system will boot up and ask you to put a disk in the "A: drive". Trust us, it's already there: press the ENTER key. After showing a splash screen and booting through some messages of what's installed, you will be shown the edit screen of Wordstar. Press D to make a new file, and type in any 8+3 filename you'd like, for example: DOCUMENT.TXT. After that, you're in the editing screen. Fire away! Play around! Write your masterpiece. But be warned: There is no way to save your work, so don't put anything down you want to see again after a browser refresh or a window close.

What is this?

The Internet Archive is now experimenting with an in-browser emulator that allows you to try software in the archives. Based on the MESS emulation software, this JSMESS (Javascript MESS) player should run in most modern browsers and will map to most keys on your keyboard. Constant improvements are being done to the emulation software and this interface. For background information on JSMESS and answers to common questions, see our JSMESS FAQ.
